In a significant move,
Moon Studios, the acclaimed developer behind the “Ori” series, has announced that it has regained its independence by acquiring the publishing rights to its highly anticipated action-RPG, “No Rest for the Wicked.” This development follows months of negotiations with Take-Two Interactive, allowing
Moon Studios to take full control of its creative vision.
A New Chapter: Moon Studios’ Independence
The announcement came during a recent “
Wicked Inside Showcase” presentation, where studio co-founder Gennadiy Korol and CEO Thomas Mahler shared the exciting news. “After months of negotiations, we reached an agreement to buy the publishing rights for No Rest for the Wicked back, so that Moon Studios can become fully independent,” Korol explained. Mahler added, “We believe this will give you even more confidence in our vision because we’re free to build No Rest for the Wicked exactly how we want, without needing to ever go silent again.”
This move comes after Take-Two Interactive sold its indie games label, Private Division, in November 2024. While the rights to most of Private Division’s games were transferred to the buyer, Take-Two retained the rights to “
No Rest for the Wicked,” leading to the subsequent negotiations with Moon Studios.
The Breach: Next Major Content Update
Alongside the independence announcement,
Moon Studios revealed “The Breach,” the next major content update for “No Rest for the Wicked.” Described as the game’s biggest update yet, “The Breach” will expand the game’s story, campaign progression, and introduce new playable zones, enemies, and boss fights. This substantial update is set to launch on April 30, 2025.
